Hinged single expansion joints are the type of expansion joints that are restricted to rotate in a single plane. Hinged expansion joints are used to compensate for changes in the expansion or contraction temperature of the pipe. The main mission of this joint (simple metal expansion joint for 1-axis for angular movement SSA and SFA) is consists of absorbing movements of angular expansion with rotation on the same axis of thermal and mechanical origin. These hinged single expansion joints or a simple metal expansion joint for 1 shaft; consist of a single bellow with several U-shaped waves.

These valves are generated by one or more longitudinally welded metal plates and are formed hydraulically or mechanically. The hinged single expansion joint is a flexible bellow used in the piping system. When used individually, these swivel expansion joints are limited to the angle of rotation only because of their flexible connection. When used in pairs or sets, expansion joints work together to absorb parallel deflections. The Hinged single expansion joint has the advantage of being compact and robust.
